Hens in Wellies is the artist handle for intuitive painter and sculptor Deanna Varble.
Trained at Rochester Institute of Technology, Deanna has been working with acrylics/mixed media, encaustics, and clay for over 20 years. Her work explores the vulnerability of people/materials and the alchemy when the two merge in creativity.
Her current collection, In:Repair, focuses on grief after the passing of her mother in 2026. This body explores the struggle to find centering in her days of Hospice care and observing death. These pieces visualize change and the journey of finding ourselves post life-changing experiences.
