In:Repair

In:Repair is a series of ceramics created during the hospice care, death, and grieving of my mother from cancer. During this time, my practice was in a new studio, I was living with/caring for my mother away from my husband and children. Though I had love and support, the stress and emotional toll from the experience impacted my ceramics. I could not center. Things failed and cracked. Pieces folded and fell in on themselves.

In:Repair asks the question what happens when outside forces change us? Can death create opportunity for exploration, creation, beauty? How does grief shape who we are in our next chapter, and is there value in the pieces of our exisitance that are broke open, changed, and irreparable?
